Cross Country and Founders' Day

10th June 2021

Cross Country and Founders' Day

On Friday the 4th of June OLSH hosted the Combined Cross Country Carnival as part of our 2021 Founder’s Day celebrations at the Telegraph Station. The brisk morning air was met with the readied competitors, shivering from both excitement and the cold. Once the starting siren sounded the chill was quickly combated with thunderous running – each step bringing the competitors closer to warmth as well as victory. Throughout the day, whether at the start or end of a race, students cheered on their peers with deafening encouragement. It was a sight to hear and behold. A huge thank you to all who competed and assisted on the day to make it such an engaging event. At the end of the day Gillen took home the House Spirit Award and the conclusion of the Carnival resulted in the final placings: 1st Achoa (1000), 2nd Bennett (987), 3rd Gillen (687) and 4th Standley (589). Well done to all staff and students for their invested involvement on the day, such memorable events are only made possible through your hard work and dedication.

Founders' Day

Founders' day celebrates the contributions that both the OLSH Sisters and Marist Brothers have made in Central Australia. In doing so, we also recognise the founders of these orders; Blessed Jules Chevalier, founder of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Saint Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers.

That was a special day. It was so rewarding to see the College come together in prayer and celebration. There are so many people to thank - the Founder’s day Committee; the RE and FD Team for an enjoyable liturgy; all teaching and support staff; Ian Clarke and the Maintenance crew; the ICT members and Fr. Prakash Menezes. It was a great day and celebrated in a wonderful spirit. A special mention of the exuberant singing from our Bath Street students. They led the College in songs and actions, creating an amazing atmosphere.

Making the day so meaningful was the way all our students participated. Their enthusiasm for uniting together as one College was inspiring to witness. Many thanks to our senior Game Changer students, who led Bath Street through a series of fun activities.
