Farewell to Principal Mr Melloy

Today, the school farewelled Principal Mr Melloy, firstly with a touching performanceby Transition singing "Born to Bring Us Joy."

Mr Melloy fondly reminisced about the last four years of interactions with the students at Bath Street (primary campus). "I have been called Bishop Charles' brother. I have been called Donald Trump and I have been asked if I'm the Prime Minister." For someone who did not have experience with primary education prior to his time at OLSH, this was an endearing insight into the innocence and curiosity of the College's youngest students.

Mr Melloy says the OLSH School "is an extraordinary, unique school with outstanding teachers. The students are the best pupils I've ever worked with, and the reason is because you show so much respect and you are so accepting of each other. And that's remarkable, the way you do it every day at OLSH. And it's wonderful to see."

Mrs Simon spoke highly of Mr Melloy in her address. "Your unwavering dedication to the betterment of students, staff, finances and infrastructure has guided us towards success in your tenure. We witnessed academic achievements and a leadership team that embraces the school's values that extend beyond the classroom. Under your leadership, our students did not just excel academically but embraced challenges to cultivate a passion for lifelong learning and to be compassionate, honest citizens.

Your ability to inspire and motivate students and staff alike has created an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. You fostered a culture of inclusivity, encouraging diversity and recognising each individual's unique strengths."

We wish Mr Melloy all the best in the next chapter of his life and career. His legacy of achievements will endure for many, many years to come. Bon Voyage.
