We're revving up our engines to share news about Petra Kells, a Year 10 student at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic College (OLSH). Petra has been on an extraordinary journey last school holiday, thanks to her participation in the Young Indigenous Women's STEM Academy.  She's not just dreaming; she's achieving!

Petra had a pit stop at the Betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round. She was part of the CoolDrive Supercar's Blanchard Racing Team, combining her passion for motorsports with her Cert II in Automotive studies. 

Petra, along with her fellow STEM enthusiasts, embarked on a fascinating STEM Big Day Out in Darwin, generously sponsored by Kinetic IT. They explored medical facilities, visited Kinetic IT headquarters, and even had a thrilling encounter with crocs at Crocosaurus Cove! 

Petra's journey with the Young Indigenous Women's STEM Academy has been transformative. She secured a vocational education and training work placement with CoolDrive, raced in the MotorSports NT championships, and now aspires to be a mechanical engineer. 

Petra's involvement in the academy has fueled her passion and boosted her academic performance. Her mom, Nina, noticed a remarkable improvement in her grades and self-confidence. 

Petra dreams of becoming the first Indigenous female driver on the track, racing at her own Indigenous Round in Darwin. 

We're incredibly proud of Petra's achievements and the support she's received from her family, the academy, and our school. Let's celebrate her journey and the power of STEM education!
